Modelled from his original driver used to win the 1903 Open, which is now on display in the British Golf Museum in St Andrews. Harry Vardon won 6 Open Championships between 1896 and 1914 and is recognized as one of the most influential golfers of all time. He toured the USA extensively during 1900 and 1913. He won the US Open in Wheaton, IL in 1900, and then lost in a playoff at Brookline Golf Club MA to Francis Quimet in 1913. The head's small size on this driver with its V-shaped leather face insert dowelled in place, and its horn inserts to protect the sole were the latest in modern club design at the turn of the century. In addition, the very robust scarf joint between the hickory shaft and persimmon head was a throwback to the long nose clubs of the 19th century. This model is a right-handed club only.
