At the Hickory Golf Shop, we offer a special experience where you can craft your very own unique hickory putter. Perfect as a gift for someone special, a present for colleagues or friends, a commemorative keepsake, or even a reward for yourself. Whatever the occasion, you’re sure to find the perfect piece.
The Experience
First, choose your preferred hickory-shafted putter from a selection of steel-head or wood-head designs. Take your time exploring a wide variety of styles to find the one that suits you best.
Grip Color — Select from around 12 grip tape colors, ranging from classic black and brown tones to more vibrant, distinctive options. The grip is what you’ll feel every time you play—choose a color that’s uniquely yours.
Thread Color — You can also choose the color of the thread wrapping the grip. Match it with your grip for a cohesive look, or create contrast for something more striking. From refined combinations to playful designs, the possibilities are endless.
The owner, originally from St Andrews, will personally guide you through attaching the grip and wrapping the thread. You’ll work with your own hands to complete your one-of-a-kind putter. You’re also welcome to capture photos or videos during the process—perfect for adding a personal message if it’s a gift.
Finally, select an engraving for the shaft. Add your name, initials, or a short message—something meaningful, like a line that captures the feeling of sinking a memorable putt.
The finished putter is a truly unique treasure, something no off-the-shelf product can replicate—sure to be cherished for a lifetime.
Price
The customization experience is available for ¥9,000 (excluding tax). This includes grip and thread materials, shaft engraving, and personal instruction from the owner.
Reservations
We recommend booking before opening (from 11:00 AM) or after closing (from 6:00 PM) to enjoy a relaxed, unhurried experience. Participation during regular business hours is also welcome.

“I received a personalized hickory putter from my wife and children on Father’s Day. That one club was my introduction to hickory golf. It led to my first full set, my first event, and eventually to opening this shop. I hope to share that same joy and sense of discovery with you and your loved ones.”
