Long before the invention of the wooden golf tee, golfers began each hole by creating a small mound of sand on the teeing ground and placing the ball in a shallow depression at the top. Many courses provided boxes of damp sand beside each tee, while golfers would often carry their own sand in a pouch or container.
This traditional sand tee maker recreates the simple wooden tools that helped golfers quickly and consistently form the perfect sand tee. Simply fill the mould with damp sand, compress it lightly, and remove the wooden form to reveal a small sand "castle" complete with a perfectly shaped hollow ready to hold the golf ball.
For golfers of the hickory era, building the tee was part of the game itself. Every drive began not with a wooden peg or plastic tee, but with a small ritual that connected players directly to the origins of golf.
Whether used for hickory golf events, historical demonstrations, golf museums, or simply as a fascinating conversation piece, the Traditional Sand Tee Maker offers golfers the opportunity to experience the game exactly as it was played during much of the nineteenth century.
A wonderful gift for golfers, collectors, and lovers of golf history.
